Welcome The Rehats

Vibrant indie pop from Freiburg

“The Rehats” – the name stands for the ability to combine different influences from pop and folk music from role models such as the Kooks or Mumford and Sons under one roof. The young band from Freiburg produces their very own sound with a touch of Americana, silky Westcoast, smooth harmony vocals, and vibrant indie pop.

“City Lights” is the Rehats first single and a taste of the their first album, due to be released in spring 2020. The song was produced at Maarweg Studio 2 in Cologne by Wolfgang Stach (Jupiter Jones, BAP). The multi-gold and platinum-winning producer has been able to complement the sound of the Rehats, without flattening or over-producing them. The result is authentic, lively and refreshing.

Katie Doherty & the Navigators

It is said that a change is as good as a rest, and for Katie Doherty it is both a rest, and a change, that provide the backdrop to her latest album And Then. Back in 2007, Doherty became an award-winning songwriter and released her debut solo album Bridges to much acclaim – including airplay from BBC Radio 2 – leading her to share stages with the likes of Karine Polwart, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, and Ray Davies. Life however – as it has a habit of doing – got in the way, putting the brakes for the moment on a soaring trajectory. New roles as composer for many Northern Stage productions, as well as MD for a Royal Shakespeare Company production may have slowed her output, but they have also broadened her knowledge and love for music.

And Then marks the start of a sparkling new chapter for Katie Doherty.

Welkom WÖR

With their finely textured arrangements, WÖR inject new energy into 18th-century tunes from the Flanders region of Belgium. Their music shines an inventive spotlight on tunes from these manuscripts, giving them a modern twist.

Their first album, ‘Back to the 1780’s’, was released in 2015 and they have toured both in Europe and America, including the Shetland Folk Festival, Dranouter Festival and Sunfest.

Their second album, ‘Sssht’, will be released on our label Steeplejack in early 2018.

Welcome Les Poules à Colin!

Really pleased to announce that we’ve signed the wonderful young Canadian band Les Poules à Colin for Germany/Austria/Switzerland.

Les Poules are a dynamic and creative group that turn heads wherever they go. Exposed to Québécois and other folk music from the moment they were hatched, these offspring of trad musicians were immersed in music, they have grown up with and learned their craft firsthand from some of Québec’s finest, whether backstage at international festivals or at lively kitchen jams in Lanaudière, arguably Québec’s most musical region.

Despite their youth they’ve already been together for more than six years, and have blossomed into intuitive performers. They’ve graced the stages at major venues in Canada, the US and around the world.

Their latest album “Morose” will be released on Steeplejack Music in 2018!

Youtube Channel Up and Running

Well, it’s taken a while, but the youtube channel has finally been cleared out and updated.

Hopefully it will be kept a little more current now 🙂

Going Shoppping?

An update to the website today to merge the contents of my two label shops. No time to maintain everything in three different places, so slowly putting everything under one roof.

It’s getting there 🙂

A change is as good as a rest

Well, here it is, the new website for all things around music.

After many years performing on stages in Germany and a good chunk of Europe, it’s time to move on – and backstage. That doesn’t mean that I’m selling my guitars, or that there won’t be a gig or two coming up, but from now on, I’ll be mainly concentrating on my labels and publishing, as well as offering management and booking to selected artists.

But, as they say, a change is as good as a rest, so bring it on!

Welcome India Electric Co.

Sometimes folk, sometimes not. India Electric Company use traditional instruments in contemporary styles to explore diverse themes from Eastern Europe, Irish traditions and urban alienation to end up with something “quirky and glittery – a veritable musical magpie’s nest. – Mary Ann Kennedy, BBC Radio 3.  After releasing their debut debut album The Girl I Left Behind Me in  2015 they began extensively supporting and accompanying Midge Ure  throughout Europe. They performed live sessions on BBC Radio 2, 6 Music, as well as playing the likes of Glastonbury Festival and Cambridge Folk Festival.  In 2017 they’re embarking on their first tours of Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia and Ireland to coincide with the release of their latest recordings.

“Fresh and gobsmacking!” – Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

“O’Keefe is a bewilderingly talented multi-instrumentalist, it’s a wonderfully provocative new title.” – Songlines Magazine

Now booking for Germany 2018

Welcome Fabian Holland

Pleased to announce that we’ll be helping the wonderful Fabian Holland along his musical journey.

Fabian is a remarkably fine singer, guitarist and songwriter. He grew up listening to blues guys such as Sonny Boy Williamson and Muddy Waters and started playing guitar at the age of seven, taught by his father.

Lyrically evocative, Holland’s unadorned music acutely observes people and places, strangers and kin, human frailties and foibles producing sensitive sonic snapshots rich in visual imagery.

Welcome Little Roger & the Houserockers

Presenting the latest addition to the family, “Little Roger & the Houserockers” and their first-class 50s Chicago blues, boogie and swinging jump blues. The explosive stage show, the musical teamwork and their deep love of the blues have made Little Roger & The Houserockers one of the top attractions at many a gig in clubs and at festivals alike. This reputation has made the band one of the most popular acts at festivals in Germany, The Netherlands and further afield.

The band (England/Germany) is based in Germany and was founded in 1994. Their debut CD “Jumpin’ The Blues” appeared in 1997 on Magic Angel Records and received high acclaim from both critics and audiences. The second CD by the band, “No Kiddin’!“, was released on “Out Of Space”, one of the leading blues labels in Germany. “Cut It While It’s Hot!“,  was recorded together with the great Tee (Electric Kings) as producer and special guest, as well as Thomas Feldmann on baritone and tenor sax, while their fourth album “Jumpin’ at Jack’s Joint” featured not only Thomas and Tee again, but also the sax lines of Sax Gordon.

The international line-up is fronted by the English bandleader Roger C. Wade (harp/vocals), known for his stage presence and powerful harmonica, ensuring a great atmosphere in both smaller and larger venues. Marion Wade (piano) plays blues und boogie in the style of the greats from Chicago, feeling as much at home in rolling shuffles and pounding boogies as in slow blues à la Otis Spann.Tilmann Michalke (guitar) is firmly rooted in the traditions of the 50s, swinging in both his solos and consummate accompaniment.Freddie Werth (bass) and Chris Seidel provide the band with the unmistakable beat. All in all, a dynamic live blues show not to be missed.

The new album “Good Rockin’ House Party” will be released on 9a music in September 2017.
